LOSER LEAVES RESPECT FOR ONE YEAR
Bobby Dempsey and Rhett Titus had the honor of being the first ever match in Pro Wrestling Respect history. Both men were selected to be in the first match based off all their accomplishments since graduating the ROH Academy. The match went back and forth until Dempsey hit the 747 splash and got the victory. With Rhett being so upset with the loss, it led the Respect Board of Directors to make a match for Respect 2 that consisted of Bobby and Rhett in a 6-man tag where both team captains were able to select 2 individuals from the ROH Academy as partners. Dempsey chose his close friends Lance and Harlem Bravado while Rhett mindlessly chose the Ninjas. Titus said he had been impressed with the Ninjas hand eye coordination and foot skills while overlooking their limited pro wrestling ability. Despite not having the best wrestlers as partners it was Titus that could not get his shoulders off the mat and he was defeated by Dempsey’s 747 splash once again.
After Rhett persistently complained about his second loss, the Board of Directors made another match involving the two men. This time it was Bobby Dempsey and Mike Sydal against Rhett Titus and Orange Cassidy in a tag team match. The 747 proved a third time to be Rhett’s Achilles as he went down in defeat to Bobby Dempsey bringing his record down to 0-3.
Immediately after the match Rhett received advice in the locker room from who he claimed a “wise man” (his trainer, Austin Aries???). He then stormed through the curtain interrupting Jamilia Craft’s ring entrance and took the microphone and said a wise man told him if he can’t beat Bobby Dempsey he should feel humiliated and leave Respect. Titus, influenced by the man he spoke with, then proceeded to challenge Dempsey to a match where the loser will leave Pro Wrestling Respect for one full year.
Dempsey is undefeated at 3-0 with all 3 wins as a result of the 747 splash against Titus. Dempsey being the nice guy and true competitor he is accepted Rhett’s latest and final challenge even though he has already proven himself against Titus and beaten him decisively.
Since Dempsey agreed to the final rematch the Board of Directors signed the match for July 18th, 2010. “Addicted to Love” Rhett Titus vs. “Big Bad” Bobby Dempsey – Loser Leaves Respect for One Full Year.
Titus feels embarrassed that Dempsey continues to beat him using his girth to engulf his shoulders down to the mat. Titus claims that Bobby is not using wrestling to beat him and he is essentially doing nothing except lying on top of him without any technique or athletic ability.
Titus may have unthinkingly challenged Dempsey to the match under duress from an outside voice. Regardless, Titus must find a way to avoid the 747 splash or possibly create a counter. Otherwise, Rhett Titus will leave Respect for 1 year at 0-4.
At 6’0, 282 pounds, the soft spoken Dempsey is heading into the biggest match of his career. While Dempsey harbors no ill will towards Titus, his dislike for Rhett’s pompous and sleazy personality is well documented.
“I’m also not naive enough to think that you made the challenge, putting up a year of our RESPECT careers, without having a few tricks up your sleeve” said Dempsey in a recent commentary.
Will Titus come into the match with tricks up his sleeve?? Will Dempsey’s first Respect lose be his last for one full year?? Will Titus be humiliated out of Respect??
Find out on July 18th in Burlington, NJ!!!!
