HERO VS. PELLE
On July 18th, 2010 Burlington, New Jersey witnessed a war as Pelle Primeau, Delirious, & Andy “Right Leg” Ridge battled Ricky Reyes, Austin Aries, & Celso Rivera with Sly Stetson. It proved to be the most heated and agenda filled match in Respect’s short history as all six men brought their very best but the issues remain.
During the course of the bout Pelle Primeau had Ricky Reyes pinned on multiple occasions in the center of the ring but either the ref did not see the cover or Reyes was not the legal man. Both men eventually brawled back to the locker room where the fight was broke up and Reyes fled the scene.
After the happenings at Respect 4 in July the Pro Wrestling Respect Board of Directors made the one on one match of Pelle Primeau vs. Ricky Reyes titled “The Ultimate Grudge Match.”
When Reyes got word that the match had been announced he sent a message to the Board of Directors as well as making a public statement via commentary. Reyes’ message was clear.
“So I am letting Pro Wrestling Respect know right now that I will not wrestle Pelle on August 22nd and I am done dealing with Pelle Primeau. The Board of Directors BETTER make another match and that is a threat” Reyes forcefully said in a recent commentary.
Many times throughout the months Reyes said he would not be finished with Pelle until he was crippled and his career was over. However, in his recent message Reyes claimed to have nothing left to prove against Pelle Primeau as he beat him in the past.
Upon receiving this message the Board of Directors sent out a press release addressing the situation. The press release explained that Reyes was suspended without pay on August 22nd at Respect 5 and if Reyes chose to display the same threatening behavior and refuse to participate in his selected match at Respect 6 he will be terminated from the roster.
After finding out the news Pelle Primeau became furious suspecting that Reyes was scared and he knows that in a one on one situation Pelle could beat him since nobody would be around to cause a distraction as seen in the six man tag match on July 18th. Pelle knew that August 22nd was his opportunity to finally beat Respect into Reyes one on one. Pelle has trained harder then ever and studied Reyes in detail and it was the time to finally end the war that started all the way back in January at the first Respect event.
With Reyes now suspended and out of one of the featured matches at Respect 5 the Pro Wrestling Respect officials were in need of a credible replacement. Fortunately enough, International wrestler and current ROH Tag Team Champion Chris Hero called the office putting in the request to take Reyes’ spot and wrestle Pelle Primeau.
The match was then immediately signed. Pelle Primeau vs. Chris Hero on August 22nd, 2010.
Since the match was signed word has spread that Ricky Reyes is behind Chris Hero’s persistence in getting the spot for the match. Reyes knows that Chris Hero once took out Pelle in the past which caused Pelle to take a long hiatus from the sport. Speculation is that Reyes arranged Hero to take his spot with Hero’s mission to take out Pelle again so that he will be ou of wrestling when Reyes returns at Respect 6 and Reyes will not have to face him and risk the chance of being defeated.
Regardless of what Reyes’ true motives are on August 22nd, 2010 in Burlington, New Jersey Pelle Primeau stands in front of a man he was not prepared for and a man who once nearly ended his whole career. Can Pelle properly redirect his attention to such an accomplished opponent on such short notice???
Don’t miss the mega bout of Pelle Primeau vs. Chris Hero at Respect 5!
